Two men from the New York City metro area were charged Wednesday with burglarizing two Maine post offices and robbing two U.S. Postal Service (USPS) letter carriers at knife point.

A federal grand jury charged Winston McLeod, 30, of Orange, N.J., and Lance Funderburk, 30, of Brooklyn, N.Y. in a five count indictment Wednesday, charging each with two robberies, two burglaries, and conspiracy.

According to the indictment, during a week-long period in January 2024, McLeod and Funderburk allegedly broke into the Paris and North Monmouth post offices, stealing money order printers, mail, computers, P.O. box keys, and other items.

The two men are further alleged to have robbed two Lewiston postal carriers in quick succession on Jan. 20, 2024, with McLeod and Funderburk accused of threatening to stab each of the USPS workers with a knife unless they turned over their postal keys.

If convicted, McLeod and Funderburk each face up to 25 years imprisonment on each of the two robbery counts, up to five years imprisonment on each of the two burglary counts, and up to five years on the conspiracy count.

The pair also faces up to five years of supervised release following any imprisonment, and a fine of up to $250,000 on each count of conviction.
