On Thursday, the New York Post released a video showing a mob of illegal immigrants storming past border fencing and shoving through Texas National Guardsmen, sparking outrage among conservatives.
U.S. Rep. Marjorie Greene (R-Ga.) used the incident to criticize Democrat border policy and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-La.) for supporting a trillion-dollar funding package which, she said, fails to secure the border.
“We need a Speaker of the House who will fight to secure America’s border at all cost! Not one that passes a trillion dollar Democrat wish list that continues the border invasion, funds the weaponized government, and breaks our own conference rules. I’m done with this one,” said Rep. Greene.
The video shows a group of what appear to be military-aged men using force to bypass the National Guardsmen.

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) joined Rep. Greene in criticizing Speaker Johnson for supporting the recent funding bill, but, unlike Green, Sen. Vance did not mention Johnson by name, nor did call for the Speaker’s removal.
“We shouldn’t fund Joe Biden’s government until he does something to address this. The power of the purse is our only leverage,” said Vance on X.
Johnson also published the video to X, criticizing the Biden Administration for facilitating the unprecedented levels of illegal immigration.
However, he did not address his support for the federal spending package which fails to secure the border.
Following the video’s publication, Gov. Greg Abbott (R-Texas) provided an update on the situation on X.
“The TX National Guard & Dept. of Public Safety quickly regained control & are redoubling the razor wire barriers. DPS is instructed to arrest every illegal immigrant involved for criminal trespass & destruction of property,” said Abbott
Texas’ Department of Public Safety (DPS) has been ordered to arrest all illegals involved in the incident from the video.
Gov. Abbott’s announcement comes just one day after courts vacillated on whether to allow Texas to enact its controversial Senate Bill 4 (SB4), which allows state law enforcement to arrest people entering the country illegally.

On Wednesday, The U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) ruled that the bill could be put into effect pending a final ruling on its constitutionality.
Following the SCOTUS ruling, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals issued a contrary ruling that Texas must pause enforcement before a final ruling is issued on SB4.
President Joe Biden has not put out a statement addressing the video, despite his efforts to prevent Texas from securing its border.
