A federal report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture has revealed has revealed that Maine has the highest percentage of foreign-owned land of any U.S. state.
“The state of Texas has the largest amount of foreign-held U.S. agricultural land with over 5.4 million acres,” the USDA report states. “Maine has the second largest amount of foreign-held agricultural acres, with just under 3.5 million.”
By percentage, Maine has more of its privately held agricultural land under foreign control (21.1 percent) than any other state, according to the report.
The vast majority of that land is timberland owned by Canadians or Canada-based businesses.
Per the report, Canadian investors own 2.9 million acres in Maine, while investors from the Netherlands own 187,294 acres, U.K. investors own 717 acres, German investors own 22,605 acres, and investors from “all others” own 314,982 acres.
The report flags in particular a 98-acre parcel in Etna, located at 51 Pickett Road, owned by Chinese national Xiaofeng Yang.
Although the transaction isn’t described in the report, Penobscot County land records indicate that the parcel was sold to a Georgia-based company — New MX, LLC — registered to Zhaoju Shen of Lilburn, Ga., shortly after it was purchased.
Watch for these Foreign Owners to start pumping water for shipment to “The Homeland” not for re-sale in the US
Not to worry; that’s only 5,468 sq miles, or an area of 74 miles by 74 miles.
That’s no bigger than, say, Cumberland County, or is it?
Chances are it’s more than the south-western segment of Maine from Brunswick south to Portsmouth, and from Brunswick due west to the NH border. By a lot, actually.
Get rid of Janet Mills and her Commie Cronies and this madness will end for the once Great State of Maine!!
The 98 acres is the problem!? Not the 2.9 million acres!?
Wait, let me guess. Canadians are white. Right?
How do you China haters feel about the pulp mills in Maine being owned by China? One in Old Town and the other in Rumford Falls.
Foreigners in Canada own millions of acres of forested land in Maine Who they selling the wood chips to ya think?
Which trucking companies are hauling the Canadian wood chips to the Chinese pulp mills in Maine and from there to the loading docks where the raw pulp goes back to China? I’ll give you a hint Schneider brags about it on their website.
Canada also runs the damns in Maine. Y’all heard of Brookfield energy!? No, worries infidels. At least those foreigners are white.
