A Vienna, Maine man was arrested Thursday after recklessly discharging a firearm, assaulting a game warden, and harassing neighbors as part of a drunken rampage.

Kennebec County Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Van Wyk responded to a call from residents on Ithiel Gordon Road who complained that their neighbor, the 37-year-old Robert Locke was harassing them and recklessly firing a gun in the residential area.

Locke was allegedly yelling at the victims and honking a car horn while sitting in the driveway, although the press release doesn’t specify whether Locke was in his driveway or the victim’s.

Deputy Van Wyk arrived at roughly 2:16 pm to investigate the situation and, after speaking with the victims, went to speak with Locke.

Van Wyk discovered Locke apparently drunk.

Earlier this year, on Jan. 10, Van Wyk had contact with Locke when he served a protection order from the same victims preventing Locke from contacting or harassing them in any way.

Van Wyk arrested Locke, and placed him, in handcuffs, in the back of his cruiser.

As Van Wyk was speaking with the victims, locke was able to maneuver his hands from behind his back, and proceeded to break the cruiser window, in an apparent attempt to escape custody.

Before Locke was able to escape through the broken window, Van Wyk took him out of the car and, with the help of other deputies, was able to re-secure the handcuffs following a struggle.

During the struggle, Locke kicked Game Warden Ethan Buck, who responded to the incident.

A subsequent search of Locke’s house revealed spent firearm cartridges and “several” firearms which were seized by law enforcement.

Locke is currently being held without bail and faces six criminal charges, including three felonies.

The felonies include Criminal Threatening w/ Dangerous Weapon, Reckless Conduct w/ Dangerous Weapon, and Aggravated Criminal Mischief.
