President Joe Biden has rejected calls from former Republican President Donald Trump that both candidates take drug tests prior to the year’s first presidential debate to ensure that neither is artificially improving his performance on stage.
“DRUG TEST FOR CROOKED JOE BIDEN??? I WOULD, ALSO, IMMEDIATELY AGREE TO ONE!!!,” said President Trump on Monday.
Trump’s request came in response to widespread chatter in conservative media about President Biden’s potential use of performance enhancing drugs prior to the debate.
Many national commentators, especially on conservative talk radio, have pointed to the sharp contrast between Biden’s State of the Union speech in January, in which he appeared angry and mostly shouted his teleprompter lines, and his more recent media appearances, where he is soft spoken and frequently stumbles over his words.
Posts have also circulated on the Internet highlighting the number of “jump cuts” used in official White House videos of Biden — a common tactic used by video editors when a subject cannot read a script in one take.
The left-wing media has endeavored to set expectations low for the president, with frequent references to his alleged childhood stutter and a lingering back injury that might hamper him from standing for the duration of the debate.
Throughout his presidency, Biden has faced accusations that he is too old and that he is senile, and those calls have only grown in 2024, with disastrous press conferences and his recent foreign trips being filled with awkward moments.
Comedian Shane Gillis has famously compared Biden to a “roomba” vacuum for his habit of wondering around the stage when his prepared remarks are over, often looking to staff for guidance on how to make an exit.

Trump followed up his initial Truth Social post by re-posting an article from Fox News in which former White House doctor and Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Tex.) said that Biden should be given a drug test, because the debates are meant to give Americans an accurate picture of a candidate’s abilities.
“American citizens must have absolute confidence in their President’s ability to perform his or her duties as Head of State and Commander in Chief, and the debate performance absolutely should be indicative of an individual’s ability to perform these critical duties free of any performance enhancing drugs or mood-altering medications,” said Rep. Jackson in a letter to the president and current White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor.
Concerns about Biden potentially using performance-enhancing drugs for the debate intensified after the White House announced that the president would be sequestered at Camp David for the entire week leading up to the event, with no public appearances scheduled during that period.
Biden has nevertheless refused to take any drug tests prior to the debate, cementing concerns among many.
“I mean, I don’t even really know what to say about that,” said Biden Campaign Spokeswoman Adrienne Elrod on CNN, “I worked on Hillary Clinton’s campaign, you know, she also debated him very effectively. He accused her of being on drugs.”
It is unclear why Biden would refuse the chance to easily disprove claims that he is using drugs by taking the test if the rumors are untrue.
For those with short memories, Trump faced similar accusations from major left-wing commentators and even former DNC Chairman Howard Dean following a 2016 debate against Clinton.
Howard Dean, on Twitter and in an interview with MSNBC, asserted confidently that Trump was using cocaine on account of the Republican sniffing a few times into the microphone.
I can’t figure out if democratic operatives and the useful idiots who vote for them are evil, dishonest or just plain ignorant. Oops….thats the dictionary definition of democrat. If anyone would honestly watch that debate with an open mind they have to realize he was doped up with some pharmaceutical cocktail likely including speed. He barely blinked. He lost his place. He stammered and stumbled. The leaders of Russia, China, Iran and North Korea have to be doing handstands and high-fives. They can get away with anything under this idiots reign of terror on the American people. Votes matter and if you don’t think this is beyond terrifying for this country you are lying to yourself.
