A Dominican national pleaded guilty Monday in a Bangor federal court to possessing controlled substances with intent to distribute after being found with high quantities of methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaine during a traffic stop in Maine.
According to court records, in November 2023, 42-year-old Lenin Nova-Nova of the Dominican Republic was a passenger in a vehicle that was subject to a traffic stop by an East Millinocket Police officer due to an issue with the vehicle’s headlights.
Federal prosecutors alleged that Nova-Nova identified himself to the officer using an alias that had an outstanding warrant for arrest.
U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) was later able to identify Nova-Nova.
A search of Nova-Nova’s person resulted in the seizure of $1,305 in cash, four cell phones, and approximately 113 grams of methamphetamine, 19 grams of fentanyl and 57.8 grams of cocaine base (crack).
Nova-Nova faces 10 years to life in prison, a maximum fine of up to $10 million, and up to a lifetime of supervised release.
Why should Maine tax payers have to cough up dollars for ten years of a cot and three hots for this thug? Ship the druggie back to the DR. When he walks of the plane, the DR Police may well take him for short and final ride, but that is not our problem. Or, did the DR take him out of one of their jails, buy him a plane ticket to NYC, and figure to save their prison some money?
Great. Now the taxpayers will now have to pay 10 years of room, board and healthcare.
Maybe he can trip and fall down six flights of stairs!
