The Mills Administration is seeking to pay $485,000 in taxpayer funds to a nonprofit in order to pilot a “Progressive Employment” model in Maine geared toward bringing addicts and recovery and “justice involved individuals” into the state’s work force.

According to a request to waive competitive bidding filed last week by the Maine Department of Labor (DOL), the Mills Administration wants to direct $485,000 to the Bangor-based Eastern Maine Development Corporation (EDMC) to coordinate the “Progressive Employment” program.

“Progressive Employment is a model that helps job seekers and employers through the support of community organizations and resource partners,” the Maine DOL stated in its request. “For this pilot the target audience includes individuals in recovery and justice involved individuals.”

“Justice involved individuals” is a euphemism for people who are currently, or have previously served time in jails, youth correctional facilities, or prisons.

The proposed pilot program will help employers and job seekers coordinate “job training, company tours, mock interviews and other career exploration tools,” according to the Maine DOL.

The “Progressive Employment” program will be “key” to the Mills administration’s goal of adding 75,000 workers to the state’s talent pool by 2029 — a figure which has also been cited by Gov. Janet Mills in support of her administration’s “Office of New Americans,” aimed at bringing migrants into the state to fill job vacancies.

The $485,000 grant to EDMC would taken from federal COVID-19 relief funds received by the state as part of the 2021 American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

EDMC is also the nonprofit that has partnered with the Bangor Daily News to allow the newspaper to receive tax deductible donations.

Just like the millions of dollars embezzled by congress for Ukraine but somehow ended up going to an Idaho mining company which just happened to be invested heavily into by capital members, I suspect the same will happen to these funds. Its kinda like training wheels for government corruption.

Stop letting people stay on unending welfare.
Kick out the illegals.
Stop reckless spending.
Lower taxes & regulations.
Let electric companies reopen so our power is domestically provided so costs go down.
Be welcoming to business.
Stop the left wing malarkey.

Maybe then people will stay in the state and actually work.
Never mind programs like this and being a sanctuary state. The more they do the more problems you create.

I get it; In lefty world, third-world illegal aliens, drug dealers, and murderers are “justice-involved” individuals. Former President Donald Trump is a “CONVICTED FELON” even though the case is still under appeal and will likely get thrown out. Meanwhile, Biden’s crackhead son has DOJ bury tax evasion charges until the statute of limitations runs. Sounds fair to me.

I don’t know how anyone can say “justice involved individuals” and keep a straight face. Just another lefty way to piddle away your taxes as we watch the slow but accelerating decline of the empire.
