An unknown number of armed gunman attempted to assault a U.S. military base in Texas Saturday morning, resulting in an exchange of gunfire between the mysterious assailants and Air Force personnel stationed at the base.
Three days later, no information has been released about the attackers — and the mainstream media seems content to let the story slip away.
According to information reported by local news outlets over the weekend, the Air Force personnel stationed at the Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in Texas came under fire from 2:15 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. on Aug. 17.

According to officials who spoke with the San Antonio Express-News, the attack came in two parts. The first occurred around 2:15 a.m., when base security saw a sedan driving past the facility, heard gunshots, and realized that the people in the vehicle were targeting the base.
The vehicle escaped without being fired on by security, who called for reinforcements after the attack.
After reinforcements arrived, the sedan returned, and its occupants once again opened fire on the base shortly before 5:00 a.m.
During the second attack, base personnel returned fire, but were unable to prevent the attackers from escaping.
Authorities confirmed that no one on the base was injured in the brief firefight but were able to provide few additional details.
Base officials have released no information on the vehicle involved, other than that it was a sedan, and did not confirm whether it was struck by any of the base’s returning fire.
Officials remain uncertain about the number of shooters, although they have confirmed that there were multiple assailants, and have not issued any speculation about the possible motive or identity of the shooters.
On Monday, San Antonio Police Department Capt. Michelle Ramos confirmed that they have no reason to believe that the shooting was gang-related, although it is unclear how they ruled out the possibility, and police have provided no additional information on the motive.
The base has returned to normal operations.

Apparently the DEI Air Force personnel aren’t required to qualify at the firing range.
