A Dixfield man has been arrested after authorities found a 9-month-old baby girl suffering from an opioid overdose at a home in Mexico, the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday.

The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office says deputies, alongside Rumford Police and emergency medical personnel, responded to a residence on Roxbury Road in Mexico for a report of an unresponsive 9-month-old infant.

The baby was reportedly struggling to breathe and was turning blue.

The 9-month-old baby girl was immediately transported to the Rumford Hospital where she was admitted and treated for a drug overdose with multiple doses of naloxone (Narcan). She was then transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland

Toxicology reports revealed the infant tested positive for cocaine, marijuana and was suffering from an opioid overdose.

A search of the Roxbury Road residence resulted in the seizure of approximately 60 grams of cocaine, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Subsequently arrested was 28-year-old Timothy Child of Dixfield, who was charged with unlawful trafficking of schedule W drugs, endangering the welfare of a child and violating conditions of release.

The Sheriff’s Office says Child was on three separate sets of bail conditions at the time of his arrest.

The investigation into the incident is still under investigation, and authorities have executed a second search warrant at a residence on Pine Street in Dixfield.

As a Resident of Oxford County .. I must say can anyone tell me the last time the Sheriffs Dept. took a pro-active approach to any Crime ? I have notified Deputies in Face to face meetings about criminal activity being conducted and their response is a “Shrug of the Shoulders ” at best they are a reactive force …MAYBE .. Remember ; No one is coming to save you and there is NO 911…. Stay aware and stay armed .
