U.S. Sen. Angus King (I-Maine), who has for years fashioned himself as an “independent” or a “moderate” despite backing exclusively left-wing Democratic Party policies, issued a ringing endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris.

“She [Vice President Harris] is passionate about two things—the truth and our democracy. These are the qualities I want in a President, and this is why I’m voting for Kamala Harris,” said Sen. King in an Instagram post on Thursday.
King admitted that Harris is the first presidential candidate he knew personally. According to the junior senator from Maine, they worked together in the Senate Intelligence Committee when Harris was serving as the furthest left senator in Congress.
In his post, King celebrated Harris’s ability to question witnesses and engage with national security issues—a perspicacity that has been notably lacking during her campaign interviews with national media, or Oprah.
King’s fawning praise continued, calling Harris “whip-smart” and “calm under stress.”
He claimed that, away from cameras, Harris is not actually very partisan.
Congressional information site GovTrack ranked Harris as the most liberal senator of 2019 in a now-deleted post, suggesting that she is anything but nonpartisan.
In the same way that Harris is now attempting to moderate the radical positions she held as recently as 2019, King’s political career has been characterized by a tightrope walk between voting for left-wing policies in Washington, D.C., while projecting the image of a middle-of-the-road moderate back in Maine.
King did not mention a single issue or policy on which he disagrees with Harris during his endorsement—neither the version of Harris who ran in 2019 nor the version who is running now against former Republican President Donald Trump.
“Senator King is proud to join the long line of thoughtful, independent leaders from the State of Maine, and he works hard every day to bring Republicans and Democrats together to find common-sense solutions for Maine and America,” says King on his campaign website.
King did not clarify whether he believes Harris’s most radical policies, including price controls for food, fit his definition of bipartisan common sense solutions.
Even Democratic Rep. Jared Golden (Maine) has refused to endorse Harris as he faces a close race in the state’s conservative-leaning Second Congressional District.

Under Trump we had statistically no inflation. Black and Hispanic employment was lower than it ever has been. We were leaving wars we shouldn’t have been with in the first place. There were no new global conflicts. The economy but for Covid was roaring. Under Biden and Kamala we’re closer to WW3 than ever. Iran, Korea, Russia do whatever they want. We had a disastrous departure from Afghanistan. (Just for fun look up how Trump dealt with the Taliban leader during out withdrawal). Angus is a total liar and pile of dung. He’s conned the southern part of the state that he’s gods gift. He will get his on the end.
