None of the Eleven States with Gubernatorial Elections in 2024 Flipped Parties Despite Massive Shifts Nationally

As nationwide focus revolved around last Tuesday’s Presidential and Congressional elections, eleven states also decided on their governors.

Not one of the 11 states flipped parties in their gubernatorial elections, despite the massive shift toward Republicans nationally.

Three of these states supported governors from one party while casting their electoral votes for the presidential candidate of the opposite party.

Both New Hampshire and Vermont, the only states that elect governors every two years, cast their electoral votes in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris.

Vermont voters overwhelmingly supported Vice President Harris, giving her 64.4 percent of the vote compared to the 32.6 percent given to President Trump, while New Hampshire gave Harris a slimmer 51 percent of the vote.

Both states’ gubernatorial races differed vastly from their presidential votes.

Vermont’s incumbent Republican, Phil Scott, won the state’s governorship by an even wider margin than Harris won the state’s three electoral votes, drawing support from 73.6 percent of the vote.

New Hampshire’s new governor-elect, Kelly Ayotte, also overperformed Harris in the state, though by a smaller margin, bringing in only 53.5 percent of the vote.

North Carolina voters, in contrast to those in New Hampshire and Vermont, cast their electoral votes for Trump while voting to maintain a Democratic governor, with newcomer Josh Stein winning the state after incumbent Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper’s eight-year reign.

Stein secured a wide margin of victory in the race, 54.8 percent to 40.2 percent, after Robinson’s campaign was mired in scandal, including revelations that he called himself a “black NAZI” on a pornographic website.

Delaware and Washington were the only other Democratic states with governors up for reelection.

The other states — Montana, Utah, North Dakota, Missouri, Indiana, and West Virginia — all voted for Trump and maintained Republican governors.

What’s even more shocking (not) is that out of every state that voted pro harris only 2 required voter ID. (What’s up with NH? Finely overcome with masshole’s I guess.) Every state that have voter ID voted trump.
