The South Portland Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred late Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of a steakhouse near the Maine Mall.

Officers responded to the parking lot of Kobe Steakhouse, located at 380 Gorham Rd., shortly after 5 p.m. on Wednesday after receiving a 911 call about a possible shooting.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers learned that an altercation had broken out between two sets of individuals within the restuarant.

Police said that altercation then moved outside of the restaurant to the parking lot, where a suspect from one group displayed and threatened individuals in the other group with a handgun.

The group being threatened then fled in a vehicle, and the suspect began to follow them in a separate vehicle, police said.

When vehicles reached the intersection of Gorham Road and Western Avenue, less than a mile from the steakhouse, the suspect allegedly fired the gun in the direction of the victim’s vehicle.

While the victim’s vehicle was struck by gunfire, no one was hurt in the incident.

The suspect vehicle fled onto Western Avenue following the shooting, police said.

“At this hour detectives are still investigating, following up on potential leads, and
gathering/reviewing evidence,” South Portland Police said in a press release early Thursday morning.

No arrests were announced.

Just like Saco, no arrests. We need more cops and we can get the money by cutting welfar payments.

Wouldn’t need more buckets to bail water if you seal the hole. An idea so simple even a slow governor should see it.
