A previously convicted felon was arrested Wednesday after Lewiston Police found a firearm in his apartment during a search connected to an open firearms investigation.

On Wednesday afternoon, Lewiston Police executed a search warrant at 204 Blake St., Apt. #2 in Lewiston.

Police say that the warrant was connected to an open firearms investigation.

Investigators found a seized a firearm in the apartment.

As a result of their investigation, police arrested 30-year-old Alan Scott-Ryerson of Lewiston on charges of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and refusing to submit to arrest.

Police say Scott-Ryerson is prohibited from possessing firearms due to prior felony convictions.

He was transported to the Androscoggin County Jail where he was held on $800 bail.

Lewiston Police say they will be working with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the U.S. District Attorney’s Office as their investigation continues, and that more charges against Scott-Ryerson are expected.

Lewiston saw a surge in gun violence and shooting incidents last year. Lewiston Police Chief David St. Pierre said at a press conference last August that the city had seen roughly 30 shootings since the start of 2024.
