Portland police are searching for the driver of a pickup truck that allegedly struck and killed a 57-year-old woman on Forest Avenue Monday night before fleeing the scene.
Officers responded to the area of 1837 Forest Avenue at approximately 9:18 p.m. on Aug. 24 following reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.
Police found the woman deceased at the scene.
Witnesses told investigators the woman was crossing Forest Avenue when she was struck. The vehicle involved did not stop and fled the area following the crash, according to police.
Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a dark-colored pickup truck that was last seen traveling inbound on Forest Avenue.
Police have not released the victim’s name, pending notification of her family.
Members of the Portland Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team responded Monday night and conducted what police described as a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
