An Eddington man was arrested on Tuesday in connection to social media posts in which he allegedly made threats against Jews, politicians, the Supreme Court and others.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maine announced on Tuesday that Thadius Wind, 50, of Eddington, was arrested and charged by criminal complaint with transmitting an interstate threat.
Prosecutors allege in the complaint that in 2024, the FBI received a tip from Meta, Facebook’s parent company, about a Facebook user who had discussed committing violence against police and military.
The FBI also received tips from the public about threatening statements made on X.
In November 2024, the FBI was able to obtain and execute a search warrant on the X account, recovering posts containing threats against Jews, political figures, the Supreme Court and others.
Details associated with the account were traced to Thadius Wind, prosecutors say.
The FBI and Secret Service are investigating the case with assistance from the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Wind has been in multiple standoffs with Maine police in recent years and has a history of mental illness, suffering from “religious delusions” during one standoff with Old Town Police in 2021, authorities said at the time.
