Two 18-year-old suspects who were charged with multiple felony level counts after allegedly robbing two victims at gunpoint at Bug Light Park in South Portland were released after just two days in custody on lowered bail.

According to South Portland Police, at about 11:25 p.m. on April 20, officers responded to Bug Light Park at the end of Madison Street to a report of an assault.

Police found that two victims had been robbed by two suspects who were known to them, and had personal property taken.

Police say the alleged robbers displayed a firearm and used it to strike one of the victims during the robbery, but ultimately it was not fired.

The victim struck by the firearm required medical attention and was transported to Maine Medical Center for minor injuries sustained during the assault.

Following an investigation into the two suspects, police were able to obtain and execute search warrants at 1344 Washington Ave., 93 Harris Ave. and at a local college on Wednesday, April 23.

During the searches, police were able to obtain a stolen firearm that they believe to have been used in the robbery.

Two suspects, both 18-year-olds from Portland, were arrested:

  • Jeissey Blash Khamis, 18, of Portland, was charged with felony counts of robbery, aggravated assault, and theft.
  • Mogga Wani Yanga, 18, of Portland, was charged with felony counts of robbery, aggravated assault, and theft.

Both Khamis and Yanga were transported to Cumberland County Jail, where their bail was initially set at $10,000 cash.

However, following their arraignments on April 25, Khamis was released on $1,000 cash bail and Yanga was released on $300 cash bail.

“Portland teens” ? Read their last names.
Both 18 and legal adults.
Why was their bail reduced?
Are ALL crimes involving handguns eligible for reduced bail or only those committed by “new Mainers”?

Unbelievable. Armed robbery with assault and battery and reduced bail. These are the real consequences of electing liberal democrats in Maine. Your safety is at risk now for decades to come. Arm yourself folks whenever you go out in public now. That is your only measure of safety.

The New Mainer “doctors and scientists” we are forced to take in and support with tax dollars sure have a strange way of practicing their profession. Has anyone ever wondered how the country they left behind to come here BECAME a war torn country with civil strife in the first place?

I don’t usually comment, however this is totally irrational, $300 dollar bail? That’s probably less than the stolen gun cost! So whose gun was it? Was it reported missing or stolen and why the hail is it less expensive to make bail after a violent attack and robbery with a deadly weapon than it it is to get caught smoking a cigarette at age 20 🙄. Pathetic.

Unless the local and national legacy media change course and start seeking the truth and reporting it fairly and completely, the dimwitted lemmings that blindly vote for Communist Democrats will continue to vote against every honest citizen’s best interests.

Now even the Maine Wire is choosing to employ the use of the code word “teens”. I suppose that “young thugs of color” would be too accurate and politically incorrect.

“Portland teens” eh? Those last names don’t sound like most Portland families from past generations. Where are they really from? What’s their immigration status? The journos are not fooling anybody with this obvious omission, try as they may.
