Two juvenile suspects were arrested and charged this week in connection to a robbery of a residence in South Portland that occurred earlier this month.

South Portland Police say that on April 14, detectives were made aware of a robbery that had happened at a private residence in the city a few days prior, on April 11.

An investigation of the robbery led to the discovery of two suspects, both juveniles, according to police.

One of the suspects was reported to have displayed a handgun during the robbery.

Police obtained arrest warrants for both juvenile suspects and search warrants for two separate properties tied to them.

On Monday, April 28, South Portland Police detectives, with assistance from South Portland Police and Portland Police SWAT teams, located the two suspects and took them into custody.

A 17-year-old male from Windham was charged with criminal threatening and terrorizing, both misdemeanor level offenses. He was summonsed, with conditions of release, and was then released to the custody of his parents.

The second suspect, a 17-year-old male from Portland, was charged with robbery, a Class A felony offense, and misdemeanor criminal threatening and terrorizing. He was transported to the Long Creek Youth Development Center.

Police did not release the names of the two juvenile suspects.

Shortly after the suspects were taken into custody, search warrants were executed at 42 Gray St. and 19 Elmwood St., both in Portland. The firearm alleged to have been used in the robbery has not yet been recovered

Police said on Tuesday that they believe the robbery to have been a “stand-alone incident not related to any other crime.”
