The United States and Ukraine signed a new economic partnership agreement on Wednesday to establish the U.S.-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund, aimed at accelerating Ukraine’s postwar recovery.

President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance pushed back against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in February after he publicly criticized the United States for not stopping Russian President Vladimir Putin.  The long-awaited minerals agreement involves close cooperation between the Treasury Department, the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation and the Ukrainian government, according to a press release.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent praised the agreement. He said that the fund will support Ukraine’s sovereignty and prosperity while excluding any actors complicit in aiding Russia’s war efforts.

“Thanks to President Trump’s tireless efforts to secure a lasting peace, I am glad to announce the signing of today’s historic economic partnership agreement between the United States and Ukraine establishing the United States-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund,” Bessent said.

“As the President has said, the United States is committed to helping facilitate the end of this cruel and senseless war. This agreement signals clearly to Russia that the Trump Administration is committed to a peace process centered on a free, sovereign, and prosperous Ukraine over the long term. President Trump envisioned this partnership between the American people and the Ukrainian people to show both sides’ commitment to lasting peace and prosperity in Ukraine. And to be clear, no state or person who financed or supplied the Russian war machine will be allowed to benefit from the reconstruction of Ukraine,” he added.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko took to social media to confirm that the Trump administration and Ukraine have reached a mineral deal.

“On behalf of the Government of Ukraine, I signed the Agreement on the Establishment of a United States–Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund,” Svyrydenko wrote on X. “Together with the United States, we are creating the Fund that will attract global investment into our country.”

On Feb. 12, Trump revealed that talks were underway to bring an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine, following a phone call with Putin. The conflict, now in its third year, has claimed tens of thousands of lives and devastated communities across Ukraine.

Since the outbreak of war in February 2022, the United States has committed more than $130 billion in assistance to Ukraine. Trump, during his campaign, pledged to secure peace not just for Ukraine, but as part of a broader promise to restore global stability.

The Treasury Department did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.

What comes of this will remain to be seen. If it in fact , leads to an end of war in Ukraine the democrats won’t be happy . The Biden regime allowed this war to start in the first place and was profiting from it . The Democrat Party is the REAL party of chaos . Chuck Schumer proved it when he recently called republicans the “ party of chaos” . Democrats ALWAYS accuse us of what THEY are doing .
Democrats are destroying Maine . They need to be defeated in 2026.

It’s ludicrous that Trump is trying to cash in on all of the billions of dollars the U.S. wasted on the war in Ukraine in order to keep it going with the intention of hurting Russia. It will be interesting if this agreement supposedly includes former Eastern Ukrainian lands currently under Russian control and now considered to be part of Russia. It’s doubtful Russia will permit this.
Putin is going to continue to demand that his original objectives of his ‘Special Operation’ are met, including demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. Trump is not going to be able to change this. If, as reported, Zelensky has already signed a minerals deal with Britian, Trump is going to look even more out of touch when he finally learns of this.
