A 23-year-old Lewiston man has been arrested in Minnesota and transported back to Maine where he has been charged with murder in connection with the July 2024 shooting death of 17-year-old Sahal Muridi, the Maine State Police announced on Tuesday.

On July 14, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Lewiston Police responded to reports of a shooting at 77 Rideout Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found Muridi deceased from gunshot wounds to the head and neck.

The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit South took over the investigation, with the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta ruling the death a homicide.

Following a year-long investigation involving the Maine State Police Crime Lab, Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit, and Lewiston Police Department, 23-year-old Nasib Aden of Lewiston was identified as the suspect.

On May 6, 2025, an Androscoggin County Grand Jury indicted Aden for murder.

Aden was arrested on June 11 at around 7 a.m. in Fridley, Minnesota, by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force.

He was extradited to Maine on June 26 by the Maine Department of Corrections.

Aden pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on June 27 in Androscoggin Superior Court. He is currently being held at the Androscoggin County Jail.
