A Bath man was arrested on Saturday after allegedly firing a rifle multiple times in a residential area in Belgrade.

According to Maine State Police, shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday, troopers responded to the area of Chandler Road and Point Road in Belgrade for reports of a man armed with a rifle.

The man reportedly had been yelling and firing the rifle multiple times in close proximity to residences in the area.

Police located and arrested 41-year-old William Bamford of Bath. He was taken to the Kennebec County Jail.

Bamford has been charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, aggravated trafficking of a Schedule W drug, theft by unauthorized taking, discharging a firearm near a dwelling and violating conditions of release.

Maine State Police say no property damage or injuries have yet been reported in connection to the incident.
