Maine’s Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) busted five alleged drug traffickers in a Searsport raid on Friday that exposed New-York based criminals operating out of Maine.

Over the past month, the MDEA, the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office, and the Searsport Police Department have been investigating the alleged sale of cocaine base out of two local residences.

On July 17, the MDEA acquired search warrants for residences at 7 and 11 Dead Brook Lane in Searsport. Along with the Maine State Police tactical team, local police, and the sheriff’s department, the MDEA executed warrants at both locations earlier this month.

Through undercover drug purchases, police arrested Daniel Carchide, 43, a resident of 7 Dead Brook Ln. Law enforcement also arrested Christopher Babb, 27, of the Bronx, New York, and Izaiah Cooper, 27, also of the Bronx, New York nearby at 11 Dead Brook Ln. and removed two teenaged minors from the residence who were placed in the custody of the Department of Health and Human Services.

The warrants led to the seizure of $3,700 in suspected drug proceeds and 17 grams of
cocaine base.

The raids did not conclude the investigation, however. Law enforcement learned within a few days of the initial raids that the owner of 7 Dead Brook Lane Alyssa Heroux, 36, was allegedly continuing to sell cocaine base out of her home despite the earlier raid.

After more undercover drug purchases, the MDEA obtained another search warrant for Heroux’s residence and executed a search early Friday morning.

That raid led to the arrests of Heroux and Mujaredeen Hassan, 35, of the Bronx, New York, and the seizure of 10 grams of cocaine base along with $9,300 in alleged drug proceeds.

Altogether, authorities charged:

  • Daniel Carchide, 43, of Searsport faces one count of aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs class A, and was given a $500 bail.
  • Izaiah Cooper, 27, of Bronx, New York faces one count of unlawful trafficking in schedule Wdrugs class B. He paid his $500 bail and has been released.
  • Christopher Babb, 27, of Bronx, New York faces one count of unlawful trafficking in schedule W drugs class B. He was originally issued a $500 bail, but it was amended to $2,500.
  • Alyssa Heroux, 36, of Searsport, faces one count of unlawful trafficking in schedule W drugs and was arrested on several outstanding warrants. She was not allowed bail.
  • Mujaredeen Hassan, 35, of Bronx, New York, faces one count of aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs. He was issued a $10,000 bail.

Law enforcement did not release mugshots for the alleged drug traffickers.

Carchide, Babb, Heroux, and Hassan are all currently being held at the Waldo County Jail.
