Police received a call at around 11:30 p.m. on Friday from an alleged victim requesting help. When they arrived, they discovered a severely beaten woman, who was eventually transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The victim allegedly told police that she had been subjected to a series of beatings, including slaps, punches, and kicks, throughout the day.
When police confronted the alleged abuser, Scott Cary, 38, of Bangor, he reportedly gave police a series of changing stories about how the victim became injured, which the police believed were not consistent with the actual injuries of the victim.
Cary was arrested and taken to the Penobscot County Jail, where he faces charges of aggravated assault and domestic violence.
At the time of the arrest, Cary was out on probation from a prior domestic violence conviction.
