The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit South is investigating a death in Standish following a call for a disturbance Friday evening.

Authorities said deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded to 715 River Road at approximately 6:50 p.m. and located a deceased man inside the residence. The man has been identified as 49-year-old Matthew Hamilton of Cumberland County.

The body was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for an autopsy. The cause and manner of death have not been released.

The major crimes division is involved in cases where a potential homicide is suspected.

All individuals involved have been identified, and investigators said there is no threat to the public. The case remains under active investigation, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
