While conducting a welfare check on Tuesday, Fairfield police discovered a dead body in a circumstance they termed unusual.

At around 8:35 a.m., Officer Cameron Dubay of the Fairfield Police Department responded to requests for a welfare check on Burrill Street.

Upon his arrival at the residence, Dubay discovered Jeremy Turner, 39, of Fairfield, deceased.

After the body was discovered, Officer Casey Dugas and Detective Shanna Blodgett responded to the scene as well.

Police contacted the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, which will assign someone to the case to determine the cause and manner of death.

Authorities considered the incident “out of the ordinary” but do not believe that the death was suspicious.

They did not speculate about the cause of death.

According to a LinkedIn page for Jeremy Turner in Fairfield, he was a general laborer at Alcom LLC, which manufactures trailers.
