The Androscoggin County Regional Communications Center received an emergency call from a Livermore Falls resident, requesting urgent assistance before the call was disconnected.
Police responded to the caller’s location and determined that an active home invasion was in progress.
Three men, two from New York and one from Livermore Falls, allegedly forced their way into the victim’s home and assaulted a resident with unspecified dangerous weapons.
Local police requested assistance from the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office and detained one suspect on the scene, while the other two allegedly fled on foot.
Deputies then responded to a nearby residence associated with the suspects and discovered an additional New York man hiding inside.
The investigation also revealed that the three New York men had allegedly been trafficking illegal drugs in Maine from the residence.
Law enforcement searched the residence and allegedly found 203.3 grams of cocaine and crack cocaine with an estimated street value of $30,000, along with $8,000 in cash.
Using a drone, deputies located one of the suspects who had fled and discovered him lying in the woods.
The Androscoggin Sheriff’s Department arrested Daniel Gala, 25, of New York; Joshua Washington, 25, of New York; and KaShaun Santiago, 25, of New York on charges of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs. The Livermore Falls Police Department additionally charged them with burglary, aggravated assault, and aggravated criminal mischief.
Based on the press release, it seems that only one of the two burglary suspects who fled was apprehended, while an additional suspect, the Livermore Falls resident, remains at large. However, the Sheriff’s Department’s release did not directly address the additional suspect.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are expected to follow.
The release also did not mention whether the burglary victim was seriously injured.
