Two teenage alleged thieves were arrested on Thursday after they reportedly tried to escape detention by the Rockland Police.
At approximately 3:30 a.m., the Rockland Police Department located a vehicle with suspects inside who had been implicated in a theft 20 minutes earlier in Thomaston.
Rockland officers detained the two suspects and waited for a Thomaston officer to arrive to follow up on the theft investigation.
While the suspects were detained, one of them, a juvenile, allegedly refused police orders to stay inside the vehicle. Police then detained the suspect, as he allegedly resisted arrest and made verbal threats against the officers.
While police restrained the suspect, the second, identified as Timothy Gleason, 19, of Cushing, allegedly fled the vehicle.
He was quickly apprehended.
While detained, the juvenile allegedly continued to threaten officers and attempted to damage the interior of the police cruiser.
Police allegedly uncovered evidence of the Thomaston theft inside the suspects’ vehicle.
The juvenile was arrested and charged with refusing to submit to arrest/detention, terrorizing, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, and a juvenile probation violation. He also faces theft charges out of Thomaston.
He was transported to the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland.
Gleason was arrested on charges of refusing to submit to arrest/detention and a probation violation and was transported to the Knox County Jail, where he has charges pending in relation to the Thomaston theft.
Gleason was arrested last year on burglary charges when he allegedly participated in the theft of camera equipment, a firearm, and other items from cars.
