CROSS LAKE TOWNSHIP, Maine — Maine State Police arrested a 37-year-old man Thursday after responding to a reported domestic disturbance that led to a prolonged standoff in Cross Lake Township.

Troopers were called to a residence at about 7:46 a.m. on Jan. 22, 2026, after a woman reported her boyfriend was making threats and damaging property. The woman left the residence before troopers arrived, police said.

Authorities determined the man, Nicolas Dionne of Cross Lake Township, remained inside the home and refused to come out. The Maine State Police Tactical Team and Crisis Negotiation Team were activated and responded to the scene.

After several hours of communication, Dionne exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident at about 8 p.m., police said.

Dionne was charged with domestic violence criminal threatening, domestic violence terrorizing and creating a police standoff. He was transported to the Aroostook County Jail.

No injuries were reported. The investigation remains ongoing.

Police said they were assisted at the scene by the North Lakes Fire Department and ASI Ambulance Service.
