A Boston media watchdog is raising the possibility that controversial Globe columnist Kevin Cullen is somehow on an extended holiday.
“Has the infamous Kevin Cullen gone on another ‘quiet period?’ Boston Radio Watch asked on “X,” the social media platform. “Ten days without a column in the Boston Globe.”
Cullen, whose column previously went dark after he fabricated claims he witnessed the 2018 Boston Marathon bombing, most recently wrote a questionable piece blasting Trump for deporting a white Irish guy.
When the deportee’s background came under fire, Cullen allegedly went “missing” from the pages of beantown’s biggest liberal rag.
if Colin is indeed “on leave,” so indeed allegedly are his latest written claims.
Cullen’s thumbsucker on the deportee raised the hackles of readers who knew his background as an alleged Irish drug suspect and domestic abuser – issues chronicled in the competing Boston Herald and two Irish newspapers.
If Cullen got the deportee’s story confused, it wouldn’t be his first oops.
Steve Robinson, editor-in-chief of The Maine Wire, is a former executive producer for the Howie Carr Show and Barstool Sports’ Kirk Minihane Show, which once famously helped unmask Cullen’s fantasy for the truth as a Globe “reporter.”
“Cullen was suspended from the paper in 2018 for lying about the Boston marathon bombing after then-WEEI host Kirk Minihane exposed his serial fabrications,” Robinson wrote in 2024. “In various media appearances, Cullen had implied that he was at the scene of the bombing, but that was a lie.”
