On October 4, Lacey Wiles, 26, of Hermon was driving at approximately 10:38 p.m. at the Merrymeeting Bridge on Route 196 in Topsham.

Wiles reportedly caused a head-on crash with a vehicle driven by Joseph Lemont, 34, of Bowdoin.

The crash ultimately caused the death of Wiles’ passenger, Marcus Steinman, 23, of Topsham, and seriously injured Lemont.

Following an investigation into the tragedy, Wiles was taken into custody by the Maine State Police on Friday and transported to the Penobscot County Jail, where she was issued a $50,000 bail.

She faces charges of manslaughter, aggravated assault, OUI causing death, aggravated driving to endanger, and OUI causing injury.
