Marauding selfish teen brats aka thugs have been walking into a Bangor women’s clothing store and walking out with thousands of dollars of stolen merchandise.
So the owner is threatening to create a dressing room “wall of shame” that will feature mugshots of anyone caught stealing from her.
Cool Girl Collective calls itself “A Modern-Day Department Store For Cool Girls – The Trendiest Brands At The Best Prices.”
But the outlet has been victimized by some pretty uncool, untrendy girls. Ripoff artists would be a more apt description.
“After Christmas our store was basically ransacked by teenage girl groups coming in and stealing whatever they could,” the owner posted Monday on Facebook. “Thousands of dollars in merchandise was gone in a couple weeks. I felt so defeated and betrayed.”
“We aren’t going down without a fight,” she added. “We are tightening up security.”
The store is updating its security cameras and putting theft tags on certain items as first steps in trying to stem the tide of punk crime.
“And if that doesn’t work we are prepared to publicly humiliate with our new wall of shame. If you’ve been shoplifting in Cool Girl I want you to truly consider how a criminal-theft charge will affect your future, what jobs you will no longer qualify for, what your friend’s parents will think with your photo posted on our wall of shame. It’s not cool to steal from small businesses.”
Sarah Badger of West Enfield is all for the new security measures.
“Theft impacts more than just inventory – it affects employees, families, and the entire community,” Badger posted on Facebook. “Small businesses work too hard to be treated this way. Standing with you.”
