PORTLAND, Maine – Cumberland County has adopted a new emergency notification system, replacing its previous CodeRed platform with Rave Alert, powered by Smart911, as of February 20.

County officials said anyone who wants to continue receiving emergency alerts must sign up for the new system.

Residents can register at: https://www.cumberlandcountyme.gov/departments/regional_communications_center/emergency_alert_notifications.php or call 207-893-2810 for assistance.

The new alert system is designed to send important instructions during disasters affecting the area through calls, texts, or emails.

The Emergency Alert Program, powered by Smart911, is intended to help public safety officials better communicate with residents during emergencies by providing critical information quickly in a range of situations, including severe weather, unexpected road closures, missing persons, and evacuations involving buildings or neighborhoods.

Subscribers can choose how and where they receive time-sensitive messages, including home, mobile, or business phones, email addresses, and text messages.
