U.S. Marshals arrested a Georgia man wanted on charges of murder and possession of a machine gun on Monday after he was allegedly found hiding out in Auburn.

“Crossing state lines does not grant escape—it only strengthens our resolve. The United States Marshals Service and our law enforcement partners will remain in pursuit. We will locate you, apprehend you, and return you to face justice. No fugitive is beyond our reach,” said District of Maine Chief Deputy Marshal Kevin Neal.

On February 16, Georgia’s Bureau of Investigations requested assistance from the U.S. Marshal Service’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force/Augusta in apprehending Dameon Jaquan Thomas, 22, of Georgia.

Thomas was wanted on a murder charge from the state of Georgia and on a federal arrest warrant from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) for alleged possession of a machine gun.

He, along with other suspects, allegedly shot and killed a male victim during a November 1, 2025, altercation in Wasley, Georgia. Investigators then reportedly concluded that Thomas fled to Maine.

The Marshal’s led Maine Violent Offender Task Force collaborated with the Auburn Police Department and located the fugitive at an Auburn residence.

He was arrested without further incident and is being held pending extradition to Georgia.
