Given President Trump’s uneasy relationship with the liberal, fake-news White House Press Corpse, he could be forgiven for not attending its annual dinner.
But Trump says he’s going to be there next month for the yearly event known for featuring a celebrity comedian who pokes fun at the incumbent president, whether he be Republican or Democrat.
In Trump’s case, it was actually at the White House Correspondents Association dinner 15 years ago when he apparently decided he was going to be running for president.
It was at the dinner in 2011 when the incumbent, Barack Hussein Obama, who besides being president thought he was a comedian, stood at the lectern and cracked a joke at Trump’s expense, with Trump sitting in the audience.
“I know that he’s taken some flak lately, but no one is happier, no one is prouder, to put this birth certificate matter to rest than the Donald,” Obama said, referencing a claim Trump and other Republicans spread about his citizenship status.
“And that’s because he can finally get back to focusing on the issues that matter – like, did we fake the moon landing? What really happened in Roswell? And where are Biggie and Tupac?” Obama added.
A number of political pundits believe that’s the moment a humiliated, angry Trump decided he would get his sweet revenge.
And did he ever – running for and winning the presidency in 2016, ending a two-term Democrat reign at the White House.
Trump that year defeated Obama’s protégé, Hillary Clinton, in an election that shocked the world.
Even better, it shocked Hillary Clinton.
No doubt Obama wishes he could take that joke back…
The dinner is slated for April 25th, when Trump will get to crack his own jokes at the expense of the sorry Democrats.
