The Westbrook Police Department arrested a 23-year-old man last week following a months-long investigation into the alleged dissemination of child pornography involving minors under the age of 12.

Police arrested James Saunders, 23, of Westbrook, at his Kennard Street residence on a warrant on March 24, though police only issued a release on Monday.
Investigators secured the warrant after a months-long investigation into alleged child pornography possession by the suspect.
During the investigation, police searched the suspect’s residence, though his arrest came months after the search.
Saunders was charged with possession of sexuallly explicit material of a minor under the age of 12 and dissemination of sexually explicit material.
He was transported to the Cumberland County Jail but has since been released on bail.
The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit Special Victims Unit assisted in the investigation.
