The married NFL coach caught on camera allegedly spending quality intimate time with a female reporter he denied was an affair is now “going into counseling.”
Well that was fast.
One day Mike Vrabel calls “laughable” any suggestion he’s been two-timing his longtime wife and the next he’s seeking therapy.
Within that time span, he admitted Tuesday, he’s had “difficult conversations” with his wife of 25 years.
“As I said the other day, I promised my family, this organization and this team that I was going to give them the best version of me that I can possibly give them. In order to do so, I have committed to seeking counseling, starting this weekend,” Vrabel told ESPN Wednesday night.
“This is something that I have given a lot of thought to and is something I would advise a player to do if I was counseling them” he added.
Vrabel, who was pictured in New York Post gossip photos earlier this month at an Arizona resort with married NFL reporter Diana Russini has denied they’ve been having an affair.
But within days of the steamy pictures being published, Rossini abruptly resigned from The New York Times amid its investigation of her alleged questionable behavior as a reporter mixing it up with a source.
By quitting Russini effectively shut down the internal probe, insisting she was doing so to deny “feeding oxygen” to the so-called rumors of her alleged affair.
The pictures appeared to show the coach embracing and holding hands with her.
The Post published an additional set of photos Wednesday of the two of them apparently having breakfast alone at the Arizona hotel.
Vrabel now says he’ll miss the third day of the draft Sunday to enter therapy.
“We believe in order to be successful on and off the field, you have to make good decisions. That includes me,” he said. “That starts with me.”
