The Bangor Police Department arrested a homeless man from Oregon on Monday after he allegedly assaulted a woman in broad daylight.

At approximately 1:06 p.m., Bangor police responded to an unspecified downtown resteraunt for where a woman reported that she had been assaulted.

The victim claimed that a man followed her as she was walking away from the resturaunt and grabbed her.

The woman was able to escape, and gave police a description of her alleged attacker.

Police found a man matching the description nearby, and identified him as Devin Anderson, 35, a homeless man from Oregon.

He was arrested and charged with assault.

Anderson has a history of violence in Maine.

In May 2025, he was arrested after he allegedly slammed a Bangor police officer’s head against the ground, causing a concussion that required him to be hospitalized.

At the time of that arrest, he was held without bail, and was out on probation from convictions in Oregon.

Despite his history of alleged violence and criminality, he was free less than a year after his alleged attack on law enforcement.
