The Auburn Police Department charged a man with aggravated assault on Tuesday after he allegedly stabbed someone on Goff Street.

At approximately 6:32 p.m., officers responded to a report that a man had been stabbed by an unknown assailant.
When police arrived, they found a 43-year-old man sitting on the sidewalk and suffering from a stab wound to his torso.
Officers provided emergency medical aid while others searched the area for the assailant. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Minutes later, the officer located a 33-year-old man matching the description of the assailant.
Officers detained the suspect based on statements he made to them, and he was transported to the Auburn Police Department for further investigation.
He was later transported to a local hospital for a mental evaluation and was admitted to the hospital.
The suspect faces charges of aggravated assault.
Police did not name the suspect or the assailant.
