The Maine State Police said late Tuesday they’ve found a missing Waldoboro man dead.
Darryl Sanborn, 64, of Thomaston was last seen in Waldoboro, a town he also frequented, on April 5.
A person walking on a dirt road off Wagner Bridge Road in Waldoboro nearly two weeks later discovered the body of an adult male.
The deceased was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy was performed.
The body wasn’t immediately identified, leading to a delay in the official announcement that it was Sanborn.
There was no immediate explanation from police as to why they delayed for so long disclosing they had found a man’s body in Waldoboro 11 days ago.
Coincidentally the delayed police report suddenly appeared within a day of The Maine Wire publicizing the missing man.
The cause and manner of death are “pending.”
“There is no known danger to the public,” police said. Translation: They know how he died but won’t say. Options: Accident, suicide or suspected killer is already incarcerated or dead.
Sanborn was previously married to Julie Anne Sanborn, whose grandfather in 1951 founded Dorman’s Dairy in Thomaston.
