MDEA agents were investigating out-of-state individuals believed to be traveling to deal drugs in the region when they received information on Monday that a trafficker would be arriving in Waterville on a Greyhound bus with substantial amounts of illegal drugs.
Agents also obtained information that Candy Duprey, 38, of Unity, would allegedly be picking the out-of-state trafficker from the bus stop to transport him to the Midcoast area.
Law enforcement learned that Duprey was subject to an active arrest warrant as part of a separate drug investigation.
MDEA agents then coordinated with state police and a Waterville police K9 unit to intercept the out-of-state trafficker in Waterville.
Agents observed the suspect with a large backpack being picked up by Duprey.
The Waterville Police Department and State Police stopped the vehicle and arrested Duprey on her outstanding warrant.
A search of the vehicle allegedly revealed 137.2 grams of cocaine and 66.6 grams of heroin.
The out-of-state suspect was arrested and identified as Claudio Villae, 45, of Boston, Massachusetts.
Both suspects were charged with aggravated trafficking Schedule W drugs and were transported to the Kennebec County Jail.
Villae was issued a $100,000 bail, and Duprey was not allowed bail because she was already subject to bail conditions following an earlier arrest for theft and violating conditions of release.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests are expected.
