At approximately 8:17 a.m., the Auburn Police and Auburn Fire Departments responded to a report of a body floating in Lake Auburn in the area of 166 Lake Shore Drive.

A passing driver spotted the body and called police.

Responders secured the area, and Auburn Fire and Rescue personnel deployed a rescue boat from the Route 4 boat launch and recovered the body.

The body was transported to a local funeral home, where it will be examined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which will determine the cause and manner of death.

The body has been identified as a 46-year-old man from Auburn, but police are not releasing the identity of the deceased pending notification of next of kin.

The investigation remains ongoing, but currently police do not believe foul play was involved.
