When Graham Platner Waves, the Media Looks the Other Way

PORTLAND, Maine — Graham Platner (D) closed out his Saturday night campaign rally at the Holiday Inn in downtown Portland with Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D) by his side and a gesture that, to many watching, appeared strikingly similar to the salute that sparked national outrage when Elon Musk made a comparable motion.

Amazing photo from last night. Is that the… Elon Salute? pic.twitter.com/xACHFgbWpp

— Steve Robinson (@SteveRob) April 19, 2026

But this time, the outrage is nowhere to be found.

And everyone knows why.

The dude with the nazi tattoo is now doing nazi salutes??

Where’s the outrage from @CNN @MSNBC @nytimes @AP??

The media were more upset at @elonmusk doing a hand gesture from his heart than they are at this pic.twitter.com/0Im0uKlMRj

— Libs of TikTok (@libsoftiktok) April 19, 2026

If Platner were a Republican, the media would already be in full meltdown mode. There would be cable news panels, screaming headlines, demands for apologies, and endless lectures about extremism, decency, and the supposed danger facing the republic. Every liberal pundit in America would be falling over themselves to declare the gesture disqualifying.

Instead, the silence has been immediate and deliberate.

That silence matters, because it exposes the rot at the center of the modern media. The same press corps that turns every perceived offense by conservatives into a five-alarm national scandal suddenly loses its voice when the man on stage is someone they like, someone they want protected, someone standing shoulder to shoulder with Elizabeth Warren at a rally in Portland.

This is how the game works in America now.

The liberal media does not enforce standards. It enforces political loyalty.

When the target is on the Right, context does not matter. Intent does not matter. Clarifications do not matter. The accusation alone is enough to justify days of coordinated outrage. But when the same kind of image or gesture comes from a Democrat or progressive darling, the standard changes overnight. Then the media grows cautious. Then nuance matters. Then everyone is told not to jump to conclusions.

The hypocrisy is impossible to miss.

Elon Musk was vilified. His every move was dissected. His motives were assigned for him. He was treated as a symbol of everything the political Left claims to oppose. But now, with Platner making a gesture that critics say looked alarmingly similar, the same people suddenly have no interest in asking questions.

I’m sorry I use slurs.
I’m sorry I was bigoted.
I’m sorry I blamed women for rape.
I’m sorry I was homophobic.
I’m sorry I said Black people are cheap.
I’m sorry I celebrated pissing on corpses.
I’m sorry I voted for Susan Collins.
I’m sorry I got a Totenkopf tattoo.
I’m sorry I… https://t.co/bly8Fkxpw9

Why?

Because Platner is on their side. Don’t forget, Platner had a Nazi tattoo for more than twenty years.

Here is Platner's longtime friend accidentally revealing that Platner has known about the tattoo for years: pic.twitter.com/VnMFJzYL8f

That is what infuriates ordinary Americans. Not just the gesture itself, but the double standard that always follows. It is the same double standard that excuses one political faction no matter what it says or does while treating the other as permanently guilty. It is the same double standard that allows favored figures to smear police, insult women, traffic in ugly stereotypes, and say outrageous things without lasting consequence, while demanding career-ending punishment for conservatives over optics, wording, or symbolism.

The message is always the same: if you are one of them, you get protected. If you are not, you get destroyed.

And the public sees it.

They see the selective outrage. They see the careful omissions. They see which stories get amplified and which ones get buried. They see a media establishment that is no longer interested in truth or consistency, only in protecting ideological allies and punishing political enemies.

That is why trust in the press has collapsed. That is why so many Americans have stopped believing anything legacy outlets tell them. The bias is no longer subtle. It is blatant. It is shameless. And moments like this make it impossible to ignore.

Platner’s rally was supposed to be a show of strength. Instead, it became another reminder that in today’s political and media culture, the rules only apply to one side.

If a Trump supporter had done this, it would already be national news.

Because it was Graham Platner, the liberal media wants you to look away.

That is not journalism. That is propaganda.

it’s been 46 years, but I’m reminded of Stephen King‘s book The Dead Zone and the candidate from nowhere who was predestined to destroy the world in a nuclear war.

The summer of 1980 was it the height of the Cold War, the Soviets had just gone into Afghanistan, our ambassadors were still being held as hostages in Iran, and Jimmy Carter had just restored registration for the draft. It’s a different world today, with different threats, but I can’t help but think of the man that King described in his book.

Articles like THIS are why the Maine Wire is head and shoulders above any other media outlet in the state .
Look for Karen and Ted’s heads to explode down at the bridge rally later this week .
Sheena is going to run right out for a sickle and star tattoo on her left tit .

It looks to me s that he hasn’t seen the inside of a shower stall for a while. Maybe the media was offended by his underarm odor. Guess it’s cool with the lefties that there candidates are un-groomed and as well as crazy.

SubJ: From this Veteran to others

Graham Platner demonstrates sufficient moral challenges to render him unfit to hold any office higher than harbormaster and is totally unfit for the U. S. Senate.

First example: calling the police “bastards, all of them in fact,
while f-ing around on the internet.”

2. According to CNN in 2021, he called himself a communist and insulted rural Americans like me as “racist and stupid.

3. He warns women who have been raped to be careful who they sleep with. He means it is their fault and shows his utter disdain for women.

4. His since-erased Nazi SS Totenkopf (death head ) tattoo shows his ignorance and lack of empathy for the 6 million jews eliminated by the Hitler regime from 1933-1945. Supposedly, he is well-educated, but displays only regret for his failings some fourteen years ago, and claims to be a new man. Hogwash!!

5. Approaching Easter, we find he called Jesus a “Zombie” and Mother Mary a “SkanK”. Every Christian should reject him out of hand.

Lastly, my stomach turns watching him represent veterans, loggers, and fishermen in his local ads at Tidal Falls, Sorrento, and Sullivan, walking his dog, rowing his dinghy, and pulling Oyster traps while at the same time collecting $4800 monthly in Veterans Administration benefits for his 100% disability. Many injured veterans are denied benefits because of their strong financial balance sheet. I can’t believe he isn’t the beneficiary of some of his Grandfathers huge wealth, which he is using to buy a U.S. Senate seat in the country he detests.

I just hope he flames out soon.

Elizabeth Warren introduced him as another Stemberger, the increasingly unpopular Governor of Virginia.

The fact that she’s going to say that shows just how dangerous he is.

Actions speak louder than words. Platner has a permanent drawing resembling a Nazi death symbol placed near his heart.

That was a very good and accurate account of the rampant hypocrisy of liberal news media. Wow!

I learned everything I needed to know about Graham Platner when I saw Elizabeth Warren, AKA “Pocahontas”, stumping for him.
