WINDHAM, Maine – A Windham police cruiser was involved in a traffic collision Saturday evening that left two drivers with non-life-threatening injuries and prompted an ongoing investigation by local authorities.

According to the Windham Police Department, officers responded to the crash on April 11, 2026, at approximately 6:13 p.m. The collision involved a red 2016 Nissan Pathfinder operated by Juan Yupangui, 45, of Auburn, and a black 2023 Ford Interceptor Utility patrol vehicle driven by Windham Police Officer Samuel Pattee.

Officials said Officer Pattee was on duty and responding to another call at the time of the crash.

Both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. Authorities reported that both vehicles sustained damage and were towed from the scene as part of the ongoing investigation.

Police also reported that two unidentified passengers fled the scene on foot for unknown reasons. At this time, officials stated the individuals are not believed to have been involved in the crash and are not considered a threat to the community.

Officer Pattee and K9 Zeus were both released from the hospital and are now home resting comfortably.

The Cumberland County Sheriffโ€™s Office is assisting the Windham Police Department with the investigation. Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who has information related to the incident to contact the Windham Police Department.
