Angus King III Misses Golden Opportunity To Break Out Of The Crowded Democrat Gubernatorial Pack

Angus King III proved during the first key statewide Democrat primary pivotal televised debate he doesn’t have Daddy’s killer instincts.

Unfortunately the younger King needed a moment – one that could have reaped him huge headlines as well as proving he’s no Mama’s boy but as smart as Daddy, he being U.S. Sen. Angus King Jr.

If Angus III really wants to win the Democrat nod in the June 9 primary to go on to the general as he seeks the coveted office his father held for two terms, he needs to get serious.

He’s proven so far he isn’t, evidence the polls that show him behind the frontrunners.

The best example of Angus III’s lack of political instinct occurred at the Thursday night debate when his opponents – who have all served during Democrat Gov. Janet Mills’ administration – each found at least one reason to criticize the two-term chief executive.

Until now they’ve all been afraid to anger Mills by demeaning her failures, lest they be branded as disloyal Dems.

But since Mills quit her sorrowful U.S. Senate bid earlier this week, her heretofore sycophants decided they no longer need her seal of approval.

After they each got done Thursday night itemizing things they think their ex-pal got wrong during her two terms, here’s what young Angus should have done:

He should have grabbed the mic, interrupted the genteel and loudly exclaimed:

“Now, wait just a minute folks, hold on here. Until just now, you all have been praising Gov. Mills, but now at the midnight hour suddenly she’s incompetent?

“Where were you on this come-to-Jesus moment six months ago?

“I mean seriously, people of Maine, if this is what you want, I’m not your guy. But if you want a strong, independent leader, the choice is obvious.”

Had he said anything of the sort, Angus King III might just have walked out of the debate leading the polls.

But sadly for his sake he missed the moment that would have separated him from the pack that’s really just all versions of the same candidate.

Instead, King, the only candidate on stage who did not serve in the Mills administration, praised her for standing up to President Trump.

Huge blunder. H U G E.

He just lost any chance he might have had winning the race. He went into what could have been a decisive debate losing and he came out a confirmed loser.

Angus III truly is Mama’s boy, not Daddy’s.
