The Republican vice president ventured into Maine’s purple congressional district Thursday at an embarrassing cost to the state’s liberal “journalists.”
“We’ve got biased reporters in all states. It’s OK. Trust me, I can handle it,” J.D. Vance told a pro-GOP crowd as they shouted down ‘alleged’ questions from a TV guy.
During a trip to Bangor, Vance took questions from reporters – or, more aptly, ‘alleged’ reporters, especially the broadcast types.
Reps from WCSH-TV and WGME-TV enjoyed trying to counter Vance’s assertion that government fraud under Gov. Janet Mills is real and the Trump administration is cracking down on it – with or without Janet’s cooperation.
On its screen crawl, WGME headlined Vance’s addressing “alleged fraud.”
A WCSH reporter, Phil Hirschkorn, meanwhile, quizzed the vice president as to whether government fraud in Maine is really a problem since it’s not as serious as in California.
“Well, California has a much bigger population so you can’t really compare the two,” Vance said as he tried to gently point out the obvious.
“Vice President JD Vance squares off with a local reporter over the scale of corruption in Maine, warning that current fraud findings are just the ‘tip of the iceberg,’” is how Fox News headlined the exchange on X.
WCSH to Vance: “My question is what else do you got? What else has your task force flagged that we should be concerned about? Because those amounts are a lot, $46 million, $1.7 million, but they don’t really compare to California and Minnesota.”
VANCE: “Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve got biased reporters in all states. It’s OK. Trust me, I can handle, I can handle it… I suspect we are going to find hundreds of millions of more dollars every single month that we look in the state of Maine, because this is not a state that takes it seriously.”
Brittany McHatten, a WABI-TV reporter, inquired of Vance “what Governor Mills could do to begin working with you.”

Every person (that understands English) should be required to listen to this whole exchange between JD and the fake legacy media to realize just how corrupt they are.

First off, I no longer live in Maine! I really don’t have a dog in this hunt other than I pay Federal Taxes. I wisely escaped the madness that is now Maine when Janet Mills got elected. I liquidated everything in Maine, transferred all of the assets and left. I knew Janet Mills was nuts and must be smoking or snorting something that makes people crazy? I knew day one she would be a Disaster, never dreamt she would get two terms and be as bad as she has been!
JD Vance is an honest and true leader. The more I hear him the more I like him. I liked what he had to say yesterday on the federal governments efforts to eliminate fraudulent spending of our tax dollars. Maines Democratic leaders have something to hide?? Other than just complete “Pig-headed Obstinance” why would government at the state level not want to cooperate with the federal government? The answer to me is simple Janet Mills and her leadership have something they don’t want found? The longer they can defer and delay the better they can cover their tracks. If it looks like crap, smells like crap, it is crap!
Maine voters, if you truly thinks these Democrat candidates have your best interests truly in their hearts, get a grip on reality! They only want your votes for power to keep fleecing you! Your Governor has already stated that if federal funds are lost she will still fund her fraudulent social programs! Mainers will be left holding the burden through increased taxes. The Queen is going to tax her subjects until there is only your Blood Left! Then she will take that from you to sell it for her own gain. Blood is getting Expensive!
Wake up Maine and get these crazy lunatics out of your State Government and get back to “The Way Life Should Be” (the old Maine slogan for those that don’t know or have forgotten)!
I left Maine too, about 20 years ago. My only regret is that I didn’t do it 20 years before that. I made more money, I had more fun, and I woke up many mornings reading news that I actually wanted to read, rather than throwing up over leftist propaganda sheets like the Press Herald.
Have fraud charges been made in Maine? Or is this still all “alleged”. That is a legitimate question.
