Democrat U.S. Senate candidate Graham Platner’s father paid for him and his wife to receive fertility treatments in Norway, according to a new report.
When Platner and wife Amy Gertner did a campaign commercial six months ago saying they were going to Norway for affordable reproductive treatments, they never disclosed they weren’t paying for them.
Washington Free Beacon now reports who was – his dad.
No wonder they were so affordable.
At the time, Gertner famously said that “Graham has great sperm” but the swimmers were apparently coming up short.
So Graham took Amy and his great sperm on a mid-campaign flight to Norway.
Since then the couple has said that Gertner got pregnant but then lost her baby.
While a painful loss for sure, the Platner campaign used infertility as a campaign wedge against Gov. Janet Mills to try to steal women voters to his column.
Mills has since dropped out of the primary race, perhaps leaving Graham’s sperm to fend for another cause.
The IVF gift from old man Platner “is the latest sign of how Platner, who describes himself as a ‘working-class Mainer,’ has relied on his wealthy family for support,” writes Beacon reporter Chuck Ross. “His father also loaned him the money to buy his house.”
Tom Shattuck, managing editor of The Maine Wire, finds the political hypocrisy alarming.
“Instead of universal health care can we just have Mr. Platner’s wallet?” Shattuck quipped on his regular broadcast, referring to the candidate’s father.
Platner has said that, if he is elected to the Senate, he hopes to provide Norwegian-style pricing to “working people” in the United States as part of a government-funded universal health care system.
“There’s nothing real about this guy,” Shattuck said, noting the one confirmed exception – a so-called Nazi chest tattoo.

No wonder he had thinks everything should be free, he already has someone else paying for him. He is kind of old to be still mooching off his parents, imo.
He has the support of his family.Good for him. The fact that he is a Demoncrat is disqualifying.
