Kim Carrigan asked Candy O’Terry on her weekly podcast to “name a song that instantly changes your mood.”
“In My Life by the Beatles,” O’Terry responded with glee.
That’s just an example of the sophomoric level to which two once-serious Boston mikers have fallen since their heyday.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
Rather than going through her weekly speed round of puffball questions, why doesn’t Carrigan use her time with a sharp mind like Terry O’s to ask, for instance, “What is Michelle Wu doing about housing illegals in Boston?”
Or maybe “What’s with Jaylen Brown’s mommy issues?”
Carrigan was once at the top of the TV charts, among the most-watched and respected news anchors in Boston, nearly 20 years of super success, til she got canned by Fox 25 for who knows why. It happens in TV.
Candy O, as she’s known, had a similarly impressive run in the spotlight, including 25 years behind the mic at WMJX, Magic 106.7.
Now she’s cluckling like a schoolgirl when during Kim’s firing round she’s asked “early bird or night owl?”
“Ooo I’m an early bird lately,” she replies as Kimmie laughs a good fake laugh.
Too bad when Kimmie asked the question that O’Terry didn’t go “is that your best, girlfriend?”
You get the point.
Candy O now has her own podcast dedicated to successful women.
Hope she can invite Kim on to do some serious jawing rather than this sugarplum crap we’re getting.
Where’s Emily Rooney and Jim Braude when we need them?
Rooney, former Channel 5 news director, later had critiqued the media on a weekly program called Beat the Press on WGBH-TV.
The show was canceled five years ago after she made a flippant joke about Asians.
Braude has also showed his knack for critiquing the media, having done so for years in Boston.
We could use the likes of Rooney and Braude again.
Maybe they could plant a bug in Carrigan’s deaf ears.
