The New Pan Atlantic Research Omnibus Poll spelled bad news for Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), cemented Bobby Charles and Nirav Shah as their parties’ gubernatorial frontrunners, and showed strong support for the referendum question banning males from girls’ sports.
The new poll, released on Wednesday, gave Graham Platner a strong seven-point lead in the high-stakes Senate race, with him polling at 48 percent compared to Sen. Collins’ 41 percent. A significant 11 percent portion of respondents remained undecided.
Pollsters found a significant gender gap between Collins and Platner’s supporters; women preferred Platner by a 19 point margin while men preferred Collins by three points.
The favorability poll also spelled bad news for the incumbent, who was polling at a -18 point net favorability rating compared with Platner’s +3, suggesting that his many controversies have not impacted him as much as his opponents would hope.
Interestingly, 13 percent of Democrats said they would support Collins, and 13 percent of Republicans said they would support Platner, while independents preferred Collins 48-35 percent.
In the gubernatorial election, Shah maintained a lead with 29 percent saying they would put him as their first choice and 10 percent who had him as their second. Pollsters assessed that Shah would still win in the likely event that the election goes into ranked-choice voting.
Angus King III polled in second place with 24 percent choosing him for their first choice and 8 percent for second place.
Among Republicans, Bobby Charles took 36 percent of first-choice votes and seven percent of second-choice supporters. Pollsters assessed that he would win even if the race goes to ranked-choice voting.
Jonathan Bush was the runner-up, with 20 percent first-choice voters and 16 percent second-choice support. Garrett Mason also drew significant support in third place, with 13 percent first choice support and 20 percent second-choice.
No other candidates drew even five percent first-choice support.
In the Democratic congressional primary, Joe Baldacci, who was endorsed by the national Democrats, maintained a massive lead with 39 percent support compared with runner-up Matt Dunlap polling at 17 percent.
A significant 29 percent of likely Democrat voters remain undecided, leaving room for Baldacci’s lead to be overturned.
The poll provided some good news for the Maine Girl Dads, whose referendum question barring males from girls’ sports and private spaces will appear on the ballot in November unless Secretary of State Shenna Bellows overturns it in response to an ongoing legal challenge.
Forty-four percent of voters, including 74 percent of Republicans, 38 percent of Independents, and 28 percent of Democrats, said that they would support the measure, with 22 percent of voters undecided.
Despite all The Maine Wire’s reporting on MaineCare fraud, only 17 percent wanted to reduce MaineCare spending and tighten eligibility, while 50 percent wanted to expand the program.

Ok Ya. sure.
When you only poll the crazy people THESE are the results you will get .
Platner is NOT going to beat Collins .
Shah isn’t even going to win his primary .
HOWEVER : Ranked Choice Voting WILL DECIDE IT ALL as the Democrat progressive socialists who currently control the state have FLOODED THE BALLOT with obvious losers that THEY have clandestinely sponsored in order to dilute the gene pool .
Dark money controls Maine . The media . The government . The whole state .
And MOST OF ALL the election process .
Duh ………..Sheena Bellows is counting all those the ranked choice votes .
Clue ?
