PORTLAND, Maine – Just how well is Graham Platner’s campaign going?
That question has become harder to ignore as the Democratic U.S. Senate candidate continues to face mounting scrutiny over a string of controversies, awkward campaign moments, and growing questions about whether his campaign is beginning to unravel.
The latest issue came after Platner’s wife appeared in a campaign video that critics quickly described as rambling, inaccurate, and ineffective. Rather than steadying the campaign, the video appeared to raise more questions about why the campaign felt the need to put her forward in the first place.
The video comes as Platner continues to face scrutiny over his presence on Kik, a platform that has long drawn controversy over child exploitation concerns. It also follows continued national attention on Platner’s past Reddit posts, which have become recurring talking points in coverage of his campaign.
The problems have not stopped there.
Supporters have begun pulling up Platner campaign signs, while some national political figures who previously endorsed him have started removing their public posts of support. You are starting to hear Democrat leaders say, we might have a problem with this guy.
But perhaps the most revealing moment came Sunday, when Platner appeared unwilling to take questions from The Maine Wire at his own campaign rally, which he held with Shenna Bellows, in Deering Park in Portland. The event was very poorly attended.
Instead of facing basic questions, Platner was shielded by a group of supporters, better described as Karens in yellow vests and masks, who formed a wall around him as he moved through the park and raced to his car. At one point, a grown man in a brown bear suit appeared to run cover for the candidate.
For a campaign trying to project strength, the optics were difficult to ignore.
A candidate who cannot answer questions from the press, who needs supporters to physically block reporters, and whose campaign is increasingly defined by past online behavior, awkward damage control, and vanishing support is not showing momentum.
He is showing signs of spiraling.
At some point, Platner may need to put down the video games, stay off the phone, step away from the online controversies, the creepy websites and out of the porta potties, and start writing the only campaign speech that now seems appropriate.
A resignation speech.
It may be time.
We can only hope Platner’s political career is in a spiral. We’ve been lucky that Democrat Presidents have all had their distractions; Women for Clinton, Hubris for Obama, alcohol and incompetence for Harris, and mental clarity for Biden. If a leftist President is ever pure, intelligent, and focused we’re in trouble.
It’s hard not to feel compassion for Platner’s wife, this latest snafu has to be humiliating and embarrassing, but this is politics 101. Things like this always bubble to the surface. Platner has just flat out done too many bone headed things to be taken seriously. No matter how you view Platner, he is just a low character person…..the drunkenness, the Nazi tattoo, the comments on women, people of color, gays, local lobstermen, rural Mainers, being an avowed Communist, denigrating veterans, training Socialist militia members how to shoot weapons, the porta potty foolishness, and on and on. Just stop the bleeding and resign. You are an embarrassment to Maine, and most unfortunately, your wife. Stop feeding your over-sized ego and do the right thing and step down.

I believe Planter is a perfect representation of Maine Democrats. Racist, anti-Semitic, sexist, loud and obnoxious, untrustworthy.
In my opinion, the most important question Maine voters are now asking themselves is, “Is this a person we want legislating the future of America for our children and grandchildren?

You are watching political gamesmanship being played at an A Game level. That salty old pol Mills wasn’t going to take getting kicked in the you know what and ride off into the sunset. By suspending not ending her campaign Boss Janet remains on the ballot. I suspect this week ahead of the primary at least one more bombshell about the Plat-Rat will surface and will be so provocative he can’t offer even a poor explanation. Be it former paramours claiming sexual abuse or some Blackwater cowboy telling tales of the Arabian nights whatever comes down the Pike will give his leftie mobsters pause, especially the gray-haired ones. And as they stand in the booth with their ballot conflicted, they look down to see a very familiar name and rethink the Oyster Nazi. I can’t say Janet is directly orchestrating all this but remember, she has been a Donkey for decades and like any good OC family they tend to take care of their own. If it comes to be, this will be taught in political science classes as the likes of Platner having been “Milled”.
I think Mills will be left as the last man standing for that side of the ring.

The BDN reports that its “reporter” was asked to leave a Platner Auburn rally yesterday. The same reporter claimed there was about 100 people attending that rally. The BDN had proven itself to be a friend of the Platner campaign – especially after Janet Mills bowed out of the race.
When a grown man is attending a Graham Platner rally dressed in a bear costume, he really needs to reevaluate his life’s trajectory.
Will college educted suburban voters chose him over Collins ? That’s the key.
Where I am, in down easy Maine, working class folks are not being fooled. The people from away who over run us overwith their art fart culture love him. But, not enough of them.
I really hope for him to crash and burn on election day BUT with the spin doctor who got Mandani elected, multiple union votes, most of the educators, the college kids (who even from away get to use their dorm address to be counted as residents) rigged RCV,,and lastly the Sec of State person who counts the votes supporting him . . .I would not be surprised if he “won”
