Rep. Randall Hall (R-Wilton) pleaded guilty on Tuesday to charges of unsworn falsification and criminal violation of the Maine Clean Elections Act (MCEA) following a February indictment for allegedly forging ten signatures.
“Today, Representative Randall Hall (R-Wilton) pleaded guilty to unsworn falsification and criminal violation of the Clean Election law. I first requested his resignation in February 2025 following his indictment, and I am requesting it again today,” said House Speaker Ryan Fecteau (D-Biddeford).
“Pleading guilty to violating election laws betrays the public trust. Plain and simple. If Representative Hall does not resign, I will refer this matter to the House Ethics Committee which will convene in earnest to determine its recommendation to the full House,” he added.

The Maine Wire reached out to Rep. Hall for comment, but he said that, after speaking with his lawyer, he has decided not to comment on the situation.
The Portland Press Herald reported that Hall entered into a plea bargain that allowed ten counts of aggravated forgery to be dismissed.
He was sentenced to just 48 hours in jail through an alternative sentencing program along with 100 hours of community service.
โWe believe the plea agreement is fair. However, the reasons for Mr. Hallโs actions in this case are still unclear. At best there might have been an effort to cut corners, or at worst a nefarious action to defraud the public. Either way, his actions disregarded the laws he swore to uphold four times as a member of the Maine House of Representatives,โ said assistant director of the Maine Commission on Governmental Ethics and Election Practices Martha Currier during court proceedings.
He was indicted in February for forging ten signatures required to qualify for MCEA funding.
Under the MCEA, candidates can apply for taxpayer campaign funding, and must submit 60 donations of at least five dollars to qualify.
Cash donors must sign forms affirming that they made the donation.
The indictment alleged that Hall forged the signatures during the 2024 election, and that one of the forged names was that of former Republican state Sen. Tom Saviello.
It remains to be seen whether Hall will resign at Rep. Fecteau’s request.
This is not the first time the MCEA has led to charges for a state legislator.
