The Lewiston Police Department arrested two suspects on Monday after they allegedly lured a man to an apartment, assaulted him with a firearm, tied him up, and burned him.

Officers responded to 73 Pine Street, a subsidized low-income housing complex, for reports of a man in distress inside one of the apartments.

Police entered the apartment and allegedly located a 37-year-old man who had been badly beaten and burned.

Evidence at the scene reportedly indicated that the victim was tied up and assaulted.

He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It is not clear whether the victim was known to the suspects prior to the incident.

The investigation allegedly revealed that the man had been lured to the apartment and assaulted by suspects with a firearm.

Police arrested Zachery Paradis, 44, who was out on probation at the time, and charged him with criminal restraint, kidnapping, elevated aggravated assault, aggravated assault, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

Paradis reportedly has a history including over 10 criminal convictions and was most recently sentenced in 2023 following a drug trafficking conviction.

See? This is why we don’t need foreign fraudsters. We have enough of our own criminals to deal with.

If we had fewer criminals overall, maybe we could keep some locked up for maximum sentences.

Jail is a a replacement for the “low income subsidized housing”…sounds like they belong there for the long term!
